Delhi officials discuss urban development and major water infrastructure projects

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met with Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu to discuss urban development, public safety, and essential services during the festive season. The meeting followed a large-scale volunteer campaign to clean the banks of the Yamuna river, which involved approximately 35,000 participants, including students and NGO volunteers, to remove over 76,000 kilograms of solid waste.

In a major infrastructure push, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for 43 water-related projects valued at approximately 8,941 crore rupees. These initiatives, managed by the Delhi Jal Board, include the establishment of a new sewage treatment plant in Okhla and the upgrading of existing facilities to benefit millions of residents. The projects aim to expand sewage networks and treatment capacities across Delhi and outer regions, covering hundreds of unauthorized colonies and villages.
