Delhi officials review air pollution mitigation and inaugurate monitoring stations

Union Minister Bhupender Yadav and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reviewed air pollution mitigation efforts in Delhi, specifically focusing on the Anand Vihar hotspot. During the review, they visited the Delhi Pollution Control Committee’s AI-enabled Integrated Command and Control Centre.

To combat pollution, officials inaugurated 13 new Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations and several public electric vehicle charging stations at various depots, including Anand Vihar, Nand Nagri, Rohini, Nangloi, and Keshopur. Additionally, 150 new electric buses were flagged off at Swami Vivekanand ISBT.

Minister Yadav noted that coordinated actions by multiple agencies have helped improve air quality at Anand Vihar, where the Air Quality Index dropped from 430 on August 30 to 92. Mitigation strategies include paving internal roads, removing encroachments, enforcing dust control measures at construction sites, and increasing the combined fleet of electric and CNG buses to over 5,500.
