Delhi playschool attendant arrested for alleged abuse of toddler

A 35-year-old attendant has been arrested following allegations of physical and mental abuse of a three-and-a-half-year-old child at a private playschool in the Maujpur area of Delhi.

CCTV footage reportedly shows the child being tied to a chair, having his ears pulled, and being kicked or beaten. The child's parents became suspicious after noticing physical injuries, including swelling in the ears and face, as well as behavioral changes such as fear of using the washroom and crying at night. An ENT specialist confirmed serious swelling in the child's ears, which the family believes resulted from physical assault.

Following a complaint by the child's father, Navneet Chaudhary, police have registered a case against the school's director, principal, a 30-year-old teacher, and the attendant. While the attendant is in custody, authorities are investigating the roles of the school's leadership. The family also alleged that the school initially denied the incidents and requested money to provide access to the CCTV footage.
