Delhi Police arrest couple for alleged ISI-linked espionage
The Delhi Police Special Cell has dismantled an espionage network allegedly linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), resulting in the arrest of a young couple, Mohammad Sahil and his wife Sameera.
Investigators state the couple had been in contact with Pakistani intelligence operatives via social media, specifically Instagram, since 2024. The duo allegedly provided logistical support by procuring Indian SIM cards and sending them to Pakistan through Dubai. Between 2024 and 2025, they reportedly sent eight SIM cards in exchange for approximately 30,000 rupees.
These Indian mobile numbers were allegedly used in Pakistan to activate WhatsApp accounts, allowing operatives to infiltrate Indian WhatsApp groups and gather sensitive information. Furthermore, Sahil was reportedly tasked with conducting reconnaissance of military cantonment areas and recruiting individuals for the network. He was also allegedly tasked with gathering information on Indian Army personnel facing pending court-martial proceedings.
Police have seized mobile phones from the suspects, which forensic analysis suggests contain incriminating chats with Pakistani handlers. The investigation is ongoing to identify further links within the network.
