Delhi Police arrest man for graffiti during Rahul Gandhi protest
Delhi Police have arrested an individual for defacing the Parliament Street Police Station wall with graffiti during a protest led by Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. The graffiti reportedly contained obscene remarks directed at Home Minister Amit Shah. The accused was identified via CCTV footage and later released on bail under the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act.
The protest was organized by Gandhi to demand the registration of an FIR regarding an alleged pellet gun injury sustained by Sahil Lochab during a demonstration on July 20. Gandhi claimed that Lochab suffered significant injuries, including pellets lodged in his eye, and alleged that the delay in legal action was due to high-level political interference.
Following the sit-in, police confirmed that an FIR has been registered in connection with the pellet gun injury case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
