The arrest occurred following a police encounter in Rajouri Garden, during which the suspect allegedly opened fire on officers and sustained gunshot wounds to his legs.

Investigations revealed that Imran, a gym trainer, had a significant criminal history. He was previously booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in 2018 for the alleged sexual harassment of a minor. Additionally, he was involved in a 2021 case concerning assault and culpable homicide.

Authorities stated that the relationship between the suspect and the victim had become abusive. Investigators noted that Imran struggled with drug addiction and had previously attempted suicide. Sharma had reportedly approached police regarding his abusive behavior prior to the incident. The murder took place at Sharma’s home in Tilak Nagar, where she was allegedly stabbed multiple times following an argument.
