Delhi police arrest suspect in mother‑son murder after armed encounter

Sharada Devi, 40, and her 14‑year‑old son Khushhal were found murdered on May 20 in a flat on Gali No. 10, Govindpuri, Delhi. The pair were killed with a sharp weapon while Sharada’s husband was away.

A police anti‑narcotics squad led by Vishnu Tiwari located the main suspect, identified as Saurabh, in the Ghati Park area of southeast Delhi. When officers surrounded him, Saurabh opened fire, prompting a retaliatory volley that wounded him in the leg. He was taken to hospital for treatment, and police continued questioning him about possible accomplices and his alleged drug use.

The investigation recovered weapons and other items from the scene, and detectives are probing the motive behind the killings. The case follows other recent violent incidents in Delhi, including the May 19‑20 shooting of a 22‑year‑old man in the Welcome neighbourhood, but remains a local criminal matter.
