India police dismantle multiple major cyber fraud networks

Law enforcement agencies across India have successfully disrupted several large-scale cybercrime operations involving diverse fraudulent schemes.

In Delhi, police busted an online shopping scam operating through Instagram advertisements that resulted in transactions exceeding Rs 30 crore. The investigation, triggered by a student's complaint, led to the arrest of seven individuals following raids in Greater Noida and Kanpur. Similarly, Delhi Police dismantled a sophisticated network in Rajasthan that defrauded a single victim of Rs 3.93 crore using mule accounts, hawala channels, and cryptocurrency conversions.

Other significant enforcement actions include the arrest of a Mumbai-based advocate by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a Rs 2.6 crore ‘digital arrest’ scam targeting a couple in Goa. In this case, fraudsters impersonated CBI and TRAI officials to intimidate victims. Additionally, police in Delhi arrested two individuals for a KYC-themed fraud that targeted elderly citizens through fake bank official impersonations and screen-sharing tactics.

In Gujarat, a student reported losing Rs 9.66 lakh to an online task scam involving fake product-ranking assignments on Amazon.
