Delhi police arrest two truck drivers after youth dies following assault
Delhi Police have arrested two truck drivers, identified as Muntiyaz and Naeem, following the death of 18-year-old Ram Kumar. The fatality occurred after an assault in the Bhalswa Dairy area of northwest Delhi on August 29.
According to officials, the victim and four others were allegedly caught by the drivers while attempting to steal cables and other items from parked trucks. The drivers reportedly beat Kumar with belts, fists, and kicks. Although the victim's family initially reported the assault to the Police Control Room on August 30, they declined to pursue legal action at that time.
Kumar was treated at Burari Hospital for bruises and lacerations but was discharged after doctors found no acute internal injuries or loss of consciousness. However, his condition deteriorated on September 9 when he reported severe breathlessness. After being referred through multiple medical facilities, including BJRM Hospital, he passed away at Rajan Babu TB Hospital during the night between September 9 and September 10. Police have formed teams to locate other suspects involved in the incident.
