Delhi Police arrest two women for dating app fraud
Delhi Police have arrested two women for allegedly defrauding a 67-year-old senior citizen of ₹1.30 lakh. The suspects reportedly used a fictitious dating app profile to establish contact with the victim, later moving the conversation to Telegram.
According to investigators, the victim met the women at a restaurant in Defence Colony on July 24. During the meeting, his mobile phone was stolen. Following the theft, ₹1.30 lakh was transferred from the victim’s two bank accounts via UPI without his consent.
Police tracked the money trail through beneficiary accounts and CCTV footage, which showed the suspects withdrawing ₹90,000 from an ATM. The investigation revealed that the funds were moved from an account held by one accused to another account belonging to her associate.
