Delhi police arrest wanted gangster shooter Amir of Hashim Baba gang after night‑time encounter
Delhi police’s Crime Branch detained Amir, also known as Saleem, a shooter linked to the Hashim Baba gang, after a brief confrontation in the Shastri Park area of north‑eastern Delhi. Acting on a tip that Amir would appear near the Shastri Park Metro depot, officers set up a cordon around 10:48 p.m. on Monday. When confronted, Amir drew his pistol and fired at the police; head constable Manoj responded by shooting Amir’s leg, after which the suspect was subdued and taken into custody.
Amir is a wanted figure in the 2024 Diwali double‑murder case in Shahdara, where an uncle and nephew were shot dead, and is alleged to be involved in more than a dozen serious crimes. Police recovered a pistol, four cartridges and four shells from his possession. He was taken to a hospital for his leg injury while investigations continue into his gang affiliations and other alleged offenses.
