Delhi Police arrest woman for theft of foreigner’s bag

Delhi Police have arrested 72-year-old Savita Gandhi, also known as Saroj Gandhi, for the theft of a bag belonging to a foreign national in the Paharganj area. The incident occurred while the victim was shopping in a local store.

The stolen bag contained a passport, visa documents, three credit cards, a Samsung mobile phone, $2,600 in US currency, and approximately Rs 1,85,500 in Indian currency. Following an online complaint filed by the victim on October 21, investigators analyzed footage from over 100 CCTV cameras and utilized local intelligence to track the suspect.

Police apprehended Gandhi in Uttam Nagar, West Delhi, on October 24. Officers recovered the stolen cash and the clothing the suspect was wearing at the time of the crime.
