Delhi Police busts large interstate cannabis trafficking network
Delhi Police’s crime branch carried out two major operations against interstate cannabis trafficking. In the first operation, officers seized 26.35 kg of cannabis that had been moved from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh to the National Capital Region. Three suspects, including Rahul Kumar and Pamlupati Shrinivas, were arrested, and a vehicle used for the smuggling was confiscated.
In a separate, larger seizure, the Outer District Anti-Narcotics Squad intercepted 765.6 kg of cannabis supplied across Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab. Four accused were taken into custody, and police also recovered cash worth about ₹2.3 crore, 126 g of gold jewellery, and mobile phones. The operations are part of the central government’s “Drug‑Free India” campaign and are aimed at dismantling the entire supply chain.
Investigators say both busts have dealt a significant blow to the networks and that further inquiries will target additional members, financial flows and remaining supply routes.
