Delhi Police Delete Abusive Posts Targeting PM Modi Following CJP Protest

Delhi Police issued formal notices to major social‑media platforms, including X, Facebook and Instagram, demanding the removal of posts, videos and comments that used vulgar or abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Union ministers. The crackdown also covered AI‑generated or manipulated content that misrepresented officials during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protests over the NEET paper‑leak controversy. Most flagged material was taken down, though the police have not disclosed how many posts were removed or the specific legal provisions invoked.

The police’s Social Media Monitoring Team continues to scan online content for material that could disturb public order, distinguishing between outright defamation, fabricated videos or audio, and offensive memes. The action follows a month‑long student agitation that ended after the government accepted several CJP demands, including the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. During the protests, false claims—such as a fabricated report of CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke’s death—were publicly refuted by the police.
