Delhi Police Entry into AEJ Building Triggers Rajya Sabha Controversy

In a Rajya Sabha debate, Kerala MP Dr. John Brittas raised concerns over Delhi Police entering the Makkal Aiyc (AEJ) building, the national headquarters of the Makkal Party, to arrest student leader Aishi Ghosh. Brittas questioned the police’s authority to enter a political party office and highlighted that the action related to a 2021 JNU campus case.

Home Minister JP Nadda defended the police operation, describing it as a routine law‑and‑order action and recalling his own arrests during the Emergency period. Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge demanded a thorough inquiry and accountability for the officers involved, emphasizing that such intrusions could set a dangerous precedent for democratic institutions.
