After the case became public, Singh posted a viral apology video claiming she was only 15 years old, saying she was influenced by the crowd and expressing deep shame. Prime Minister Modi responded, saying he forgave the “misguided children” and urged guidance rather than punishment. CJP spokesperson Saurav Das criticised the criminal proceedings as a misuse of the legal system. Police have reported that Singh is absconding and are searching for her, while her Noida flat remains closed.
