Sonia and Rahul Gandhi under investigation for alleged Vande Mataram insult

Delhi Police has initiated a preliminary investigation following a complaint against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi regarding the alleged disrespect of the national song, Vande Mataram.

The complaint, filed by advocates Kunal Vinayak and Shub Sharma at the IP Estate police station on August 16, follows an Independence Day event at the Congress headquarters. The complainants allege that Sonia Gandhi made certain gestures during the singing of the song that were perceived as disrespectful. Additionally, the complaint cites a video involving Rahul Gandhi, in which he reportedly stated, “We are not singing Vande Mataram.”

The lawyers have demanded the registration of an FIR, requesting an investigation into the intentions behind the leaders' actions. The complaint references legal precedents and proposed legislative amendments concerning the insult of national symbols. Delhi Police officials stated they are currently examining the allegations and available evidence to determine the next course of legal action.
