Delhi police shoot suspect in firing case and arrest duo for auto‑rickshaw robbery

Delhi police said the prime suspect in recent firing and extortion incidents in the city’s Paharganj and Nabi Karim neighborhoods, identified as Pawan Pehalwan, was injured during an encounter with the Central District Police on 7 July. The suspect opened fire on officers attempting his arrest and was taken to hospital after being hit by police fire.

In a separate investigation, two men – Raj Kumar (alias Raj) and Kasim (alias Salman) – were arrested on 6 July for drugging and robbing passengers in a shared auto‑rickshaw in central Delhi. The duo allegedly slipped Ativan tablets into victims’ drinks, stole cash, phones and belongings, and abandoned the victims in isolated locations. Police recovered the stolen items and linked the suspects to two similar cases through CCTV and mobile‑phone data.

Both operations were part of a broader crackdown by Delhi law‑enforcement agencies targeting organized crime and illicit activities in the capital.
