Delhi University students protest for safety amid harassment arrests

Delhi University students have launched a series of protests demanding improved safety for women following a gang-rape incident involving a teenager in a Delhi park. Protesters, including students from Lady Shri Ram and Gargi Colleges, have criticized recent government notifications that restrict women's access to public parks after sunset, arguing such measures reflect a patriarchal mindset rather than addressing the root causes of violence.

In a separate but related development, Delhi Police have arrested two law students, Abhinav and Abhimanyu, in connection with the alleged stalking and harassment of two Hindu College students in Mukherjee Nagar. The victims reported being followed by a white SUV and subjected to lewd comments and verbal abuse. The women also alleged that they faced significant delays and jurisdictional hurdles when attempting to report the incident to the police.

Authorities have seized the vehicle used in the harassment case and identified a third suspect, Naman, who remains at large. The harassment incident has led to the registration of an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for stalking and insulting the modesty of a woman.
