Delhi Premier League season 3 auction features 600+ players, franchise owners express satisfaction

The Delhi Premier League (DPL) held its season‑3 player auction on 1 July in Delhi. More than 600 cricketers were up for selection – over 400 men and more than 200 women – split into four categories based on experience and domestic performance.

Each of the eight male franchises received a budget of ₹1.5 crore, while the four female franchises were allocated ₹75 lakh, after deducting retention amounts. Prior to the auction, 65 male and 28 female players had already been retained by their teams.

Key names in the male pool included international and India‑A stars such as Rishabh Pant, along with domestic talents like Anuj Rawat, Ishant Sharma and Digvij Rathi. The women’s pool featured marquee players such as Priya Punia and Pratikā Rawal.

Old Delhi‑6 franchise owner Akash Nangia praised the process, saying, “It was a wonderful process. We are happy that we got almost what we wanted.” The league’s third season will run from 31 July to 30 August, with eight men’s teams and four women’s teams competing. Last season’s champions were West Delhi Lions (men) and South Delhi Superstars (women).
