Delhi Projects Cut Flooding, Minister Pravesh Verma Says

Delhi minister Pravesh Verma announced that accelerated infrastructure work across the capital has dramatically reduced waterlogging, citing an 80‑90% drop in flooding. He said agencies such as the Public Works Department, Delhi Jal Board and the IFC, together with other engineering bodies, are completing long‑delayed projects that were stalled for up to two decades. Verma highlighted an eastern Delhi neighbourhood that previously turned into a water‑filled thoroughfare during rain, now remaining dry even in recent heavy showers.

The minister also said a skywalk is being fast‑tracked for a heavily trafficked intersection, following a suggestion from local legislators, to improve pedestrian safety and reduce accidents. He attributed the progress to the combined efforts of regional legislators, party workers and the public.

These developments are presented as part of the Delhi government's broader push to deliver long‑term urban improvements before the monsoon season.
