Delhi protests face security presence and reports of HRD violence
Protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) took place at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on October 10, amid heavy security deployment and reports of confrontations. Participants prepared for potential police action, such as lathi charges, by carrying masks, goggles, and raincoats, with some creating digital artwork to highlight issues like alleged illegal detentions and the lack of identification on police personnel.
Concurrently, members of the Hindu Raksha Dal (HRD) reportedly incited violence against the demonstrators. HRD chief Pinky Chaudhary posted videos on social media using inflammatory rhetoric and describing protesters as ‘anti-national’. Reports indicate that HRD members, including Ravindra Govinda, were involved in the physical assault of protesters near Kamla Market. Govinda, who was reportedly detained, had previously expressed support for police actions against the agitators.
