Delhi Red Fort blast case: NIA court takes cognisance of chargesheet
A Special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Delhi has taken cognisance of chargesheets filed in connection with the November 2025 Red Fort car bomb blast. The NIA submitted a 7,500-page chargesheet involving 11 accused individuals and cited 588 witnesses.
The incident involved a high-intensity vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) that killed 11 people and caused extensive property damage near the Red Fort. While one accused, Umar Un Nabi, died in the blast, another remains absconding. The agency has invoked provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Several accused persons, including Aamir Rashid Mir, Jasir Bilal Wani, and Dr. Muzamil Shakeel, were produced before the court via video conferencing. The court has directed the NIA to supply copies of the chargesheet, with the next hearing scheduled for September 9.
