Delhi reports two sexual assaults involving minors
Delhi has seen two separate incidents of sexual assault against minors, raising significant concerns regarding public safety and the security of women in the capital.
In the first incident, three men posing as police officers targeted a 17-year-old girl at Astha Kunj Park near the Kalkaji Temple. The suspects allegedly used weapons, including a pistol and a knife, to separate the victim from her friend before committing gang rape. Delhi Police have arrested three suspects, identified as Hemant, his brother Mukesh, and an individual named Asif, following an encounter with police. The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has ordered a security audit of parks in response to the event.
In a separate incident in the Paschim Vihar area, a neighbor was arrested for the alleged rape of a minor girl. Following the victim's complaint, police conducted a medical examination and recorded statements in the presence of the Child Welfare Committee and counselors. Both cases have resulted in the registration of FIRs under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
