Delhi rice scam: AAP alleges diversion of 50,000 tonnes of subsidized grain

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has alleged a major rice scam in Delhi, claiming that approximately 50,645 metric tonnes of subsidized rice intended for the city’s poor and migrant laborers were diverted. According to AAP Delhi President Saurabh Bharadwaj, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR involving criminal conspiracy and fraud regarding the matter.

The party alleges that the rice, meant for those not covered under the public distribution system, was routed through the Food Corporation of India (FCI) to a company in Assam and subsequently sold at high prices to a private entity in Haryana. AAP has specifically called for an impartial investigation into the alleged role of Delhi minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, claiming that administrative actions, including the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs), were taken following ministerial directions.

Bharadwaj noted that if the full quantity had reached its intended recipients, each eligible family could have received approximately 100 kg of rice. The party has demanded transparency regarding the actual distribution of the diverted stock.
