Delhi building collapse kills father and son in Harsh Vihar
A father and son died after two building slabs collapsed during construction in the Milan Garden area of Harsh Vihar, Northeast Delhi, on Sunday evening. The victims, identified as 60-year-old Chanderpal and his 33-year-old son Vijay Kumar, were trapped under the rubble and later declared dead upon arrival at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.
The incident occurred while an additional floor was being constructed atop an old single-storey structure. Reports indicate that during the installation of a new lintel or concrete slab, the existing weak roof gave way, causing the upper slab to collapse as well. The property is reportedly owned by Manoj Kumar.
A large-scale rescue operation involved the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Services, Civil Defence volunteers, and local police. Delhi Cabinet Ministers Kapil Mishra and Ashish Sood visited the site to oversee the response. Authorities have initiated legal proceedings and are investigating the circumstances of the structural failure.
