Delhi security tightened for Jantar Mantar protests

Protests are scheduled for October 2 at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, targeting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Demonstrators are demanding his resignation and protesting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.

Delhi Police have denied permission for the protest and implemented heavy security measures, including barricading major routes like Janpath and deploying Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). Despite the restrictions, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), along with student organizations such as the Students Federation of India (SFI) and Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), have called for a march to the site.

AAP leaders, including Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and Atishi, have appealed to the public to join the demonstration to protect democratic and voting rights. Similar planned protests have been organized in other parts of the country, including Shivaji Park in Mumbai.
