Delhi Speaker Vijender Gupta urges blood donation at Rohini camp

On 2 August, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta addressed participants at a blood‑donation camp in Rohini’s Sector‑10 Japanese Park. The event, organized by the Lakshmi Taaru Foundation and led by social activist Vipin Garg – known as the “Blood Man of Delhi” – aimed to collect 3,100 units of blood for the Indian armed forces and hospitals.

Gupta stressed that blood cannot be manufactured by any factory or wealth, calling donation “the nation’s greatest service.” More than 1,000 donors gave blood within the first hours, and coordination with nine major hospitals ensured smooth collection and medical monitoring, including a dedicated centre for army personnel. He also dispelled myths, assuring that regular donation does not weaken the donor’s health and encouraged ongoing participation to meet emergency needs.

The camp highlighted the role of civilian volunteers across over 20 states and underscored the importance of a reliable blood supply for both military and civilian medical emergencies.
