New Delhi students protest for women's safety after alleged gang rape

Hundreds of students in New Delhi held a solidarity march on Wednesday to demand improved safety for women following the alleged gang rape of a 17-year-old girl. The victim reported being assaulted by three men posing as police officers in a public park in the Kalkaji area.

Police have apprehended one suspect after a shooting near the Lady Shri Ram (LSR) College campus, while two other suspects are being questioned. The incident led LSR College to suspend in-person classes due to safety concerns and student panic.

During the protest, many students wore masks or scarves to hide their identities, citing fears of potential retaliation from authorities. Protesters called for greater accountability from the Delhi Police and the government, emphasizing the need for systemic changes to ensure women can navigate the city without fear.
