Kalkaji Mandir: Minor girl gang-raped by men posing as police; one arrested
A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three men posing as police officers in Astha Kunj Park, located near Delhi’s Kalkaji Mandir. The incident occurred on the evening of Monday, September 21, after the victim and her 17-year-old male friend had visited the temple.
According to police reports, the three suspects, aged between 25 and 30, approached the teenagers and used their false identities to intimidate them. One of the accused allegedly threatened the victim with a firearm and a knife before the assault took place. Following the incident, a PCR call was received at approximately 8:45 pm.
During a subsequent police operation in the Amar Colony area, one suspect, identified as Asif, was apprehended after an exchange of fire. Asif sustained a gunshot wound to his leg during the encounter and was taken for medical treatment. The remaining two suspects remain at large, and police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to track their movements.
Lata Gupta, Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, condemned the attack and has offered legal and counseling assistance to the victim's family. A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
