Delhi Traffic Police issue congestion warnings for festive season
Delhi Traffic Police have issued advisories regarding significant traffic congestion and restrictions across various parts of the city due to Ramlila and Durga Puja celebrations through October 20.
In East Delhi, commuters should expect delays between 7 pm and 11 pm near Akshardham, Mayur Vihar, Shahdara, and Pandav Nagar. Affected routes include Vikas Marg, Patparganj Road, and areas near the Ramlila Ground. Authorities have warned of heavy pedestrian movement and urge motorists to use designated parking to avoid gridlock.
In South Delhi, restrictions will be in place from October 16 to 20, specifically between 4 pm and midnight. Private vehicles will be prohibited from entering Chittaranjan Park (CR Park) and Greater Kailash-II due to narrow residential roads and lack of parking. Major affected arteries include the Outer Ring Road, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, and Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg.
Police recommend that visitors use the Delhi Metro to reach festival venues, noting that designated drop-off points for taxis and auto-rickshaws have been established near the Greater Kailash and Nehru Enclave Metro stations.
