Delhi Traffic Police issues advisory for Dussehra celebrations

Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for the Dussehra celebrations on October 20, 2026, warning of significant congestion and potential diversions, particularly in East Delhi. Commuters are advised to expect heavy vehicle and pedestrian movement between 5 pm and 8 pm.

Major arterial roads likely to be affected by diversions include NH-24, Vikas Marg, Road No. 57, Road No. 57A, and Road No. 56. Authorities have urged motorists to plan alternative routes, allow extra travel time, and use only designated parking areas to avoid strict enforcement against illegal roadside parking.

In addition to traffic management, security has been heightened at various festival venues. Police personnel have been deployed across multiple locations, including 43 sites hosting Ramlila events and 16 locations for Durga Puja celebrations.
