Delhi University gardener dies from electric shock
A 33-year-old private gardener died on Monday after allegedly suffering a fatal electric shock while pruning trees at Delhi University's South Campus. The victim, a resident of JJ Camp, Sri Ram Moti Bagh, was working on the university grounds in the evening when the accident occurred.
Police received a report of the incident around 5:30 PM on September 7. Emergency responders transported the man to Safdarjung Hospital, where doctors declared him “Brought Dead”.
The Delhi Police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), specifically citing Section 287 regarding negligent conduct with respect to machinery or electrical apparatus and Section 106(1) for causing death by negligence. An investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the shock and identify any safety lapses or responsible parties.
