Delhi woman targeted in 200 crore rupee extortion attempt

A woman residing in the Civil Lines area of Delhi has been targeted in a massive extortion attempt involving a demand for 200 crore rupees. On the night of September 7, a 50-year-old woman received a WhatsApp call from an international number. The caller identified himself as the notorious gangster Goldy Brar, claiming to possess detailed information about the woman and her family.

The caller threatened to kill the woman and her husband if the ransom was not paid. Following the incident, an FIR was registered at the Civil Lines police station on September 10 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Delhi Police and the Special Cell are currently investigating the matter. Authorities are working to determine whether the call originated from Goldy Brar’s actual network or if an individual used the gangster's name to intimidate the victim, potentially due to property disputes or personal vendettas. Surveillance is underway to trace the location and identity of the foreign number used.
