Delhi's First Kanwar Camp Set Up in Seelampur with 24‑Hour Food, Security and Medical Care

On 6 August, Delhi inaugurated a Kanwar pilgrimage camp in Seelampur, described as the city’s first such facility. The 42‑year‑old site, organized by the Kanwar Service Committee, Seelampur, provides 24‑hour meals, tea, snacks and sanitation for the thousands of pilgrims who walk the night‑long journey.

Security is ensured by Delhi Police personnel, with additional CRPF troops on site and occasional SHO oversight. A team of doctors offers primary treatment and medicines, and the camp includes a dedicated medical facility. Committee member Teerth Ram said the arrangements prevent any hardship for the pilgrims, who travel from places such as Haridwar, Gaumukh and Sultan Ganj.

Pilgrims praised the services: “I have seen many Kanwar camps, but nowhere else have I found such medical facilities and treatment,” said a pilgrim from Haridwar. Another noted, “The journey was smooth; all necessary facilities are being provided.” The Kanwar pilgrimage began on 30 July, peaks on Shivratri (11 August) and is scheduled to conclude on 28 August.
