Deliberative Council issues rulings on animal welfare and urban forestry

The Environment, Hygiene, and Security Commission of the Deliberative Council has issued rulings on several legislative projects. These include an ordinance regarding animal protection and welfare, which received split opinions from the commission, with one majority report advising rejection and a minority report advising approval.

Other approved resolutions focus on urban maintenance and environmental protection. These include requests for the maintenance of green spaces, public tree surveys, the installation of waste bins, and the eradication of micro-dumps. Additionally, a proposal by Councilor Gustavo Farquharson seeks to amend existing regulations on urban forestry by establishing new obligations for replacing trees in cases of unauthorized pruning or cutting. To further evaluate these measures, a visit to the Municipal Nursery has been scheduled for October 23.
