The European Union has mobilized significant emergency assistance to combat large-scale wildfires in Serbia, specifically within the Deliblatska Peščara nature reserve. Following Serbia's activation of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, the EU deployed four Black Hawk helicopters from strategic reserves in the Czech Republic, Romania, and Slovakia. Additionally, ground firefighting teams from Germany and Romania have arrived to support local services.

The wildfires have affected over 3,500 hectares of land. EU Commissioner for Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib, noted that the assistance demonstrates European solidarity. To aid coordination, an EU liaison officer has been dispatched to work alongside Serbian authorities, while the Copernicus Emergency Management Service is providing satellite mapping to track the fire's spread.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić visited the affected area, stating that while the destruction is considerable, no residential buildings have been destroyed, claiming only a single field toilet was lost. He noted that unpredictable wind directions have complicated suppression efforts and mentioned that three firefighters narrowly escaped a firestorm.
