Deliblatska peščara housing project faces scrutiny after wildfire

A planned luxury housing complex in the Šumarak area of the Deliblatska peščara sand dunes has drawn public scrutiny following a massive wildfire in late July. The fire destroyed approximately 4,000 hectares of forest and protected vegetation. Some members of the public have alleged that the developers of the new light-structure housing complex may have had involvement in the fire, though no evidence has been provided to support these claims.

The project, branded as a private retreat, involves the construction of 14 holiday homes with private pools across 1.4 hectares. The development is linked to Maikon Construction and the company Neimar, owned by Radmilo Nikolić. Marko Nikolić, owner of Maikon Construction, has denied any connection to the fire, stating that the complex is being built on privately owned land.

Questions remain regarding the legality and specifics of the project. Currently, there is no documentation for the construction project in the Central Evidence of Unified Procedures (CEOP), and the exact cadastral plots for the development have not been identified. Information regarding the permits obtained for the construction remains unclear.
