Dell unveils budget Alienware 15 gaming laptop at $1,299

Dell announced the Alienware 15, its first entry‑level model in the premium Alienware line. Priced from $1,299 for the base AMD configuration and $1,349 for Intel, the laptop targets gamers who found previous Alienware machines too expensive (typically $1,700‑$2,000).

The device uses 15.3‑inch IPS panels with a 1,920 × 1,200 resolution and a 165 Hz refresh rate, but colour coverage is limited to about 62 % sRGB. CPU options include AMD Ryzen 5 220, Ryzen 7 260 or Intel Core 5 210H, Core 7 240H chips, paired with Nvidia RTX 4050, RTX 5050 or RTX 5060 graphics. To keep the price low, Dell caps GPU power at 70‑85 W and uses a plastic polycarbonate chassis with simplified cooling, dropping RGB lighting and premium aluminium. RAM (16 GB) and storage (512 GB SSD) remain upgradeable.

Dell positions the Alienware 15 against cheaper competitors such as the Acer Nitro V 15, noting similar performance but a higher price point. The launch marks a strategic shift for Dell, expanding the Alienware brand into a more affordable segment while retaining a premium design language and upgradability.
