Deloitte opens AI Hub and creates 400 jobs in Thessaloniki

Stavros Kalafatis, the Deputy Minister of Development responsible for Research and Innovation, visited the new Deloitte facilities at the Thessaloniki port. The site hosts a pioneering Artificial Intelligence solutions Hub dedicated to the research, development, and application of innovative AI technologies for the European market.

During the visit, Kalafatis met with young scientists and discussed Deloitte's investments in Thessaloniki with Vasilis Kafatos, Partner and President of the Deloitte Competence Center. These investments include the establishment of the Competence Center and the funding of a professional postgraduate program for career pivoting into informatics, conducted in collaboration with the University of Macedonia.

The initiative has created 400 high-specialization positions in the region. Kalafatis noted that such investments align with national priorities to strengthen technological talent, combat brain drain, and connect research and education with the labor market, aiming to establish Thessaloniki as a digital port and expertise hub in Southeast Europe.
