Delonte West claims LeBron James recruited him to Cleveland mid-game

Former NBA guard Delonte West revealed that LeBron James recruited him to the Cleveland Cavaliers during a game. West stated that the interaction occurred while he was playing for the Seattle SuperSonics during the 2007-08 season.

According to West, the conversation took place at the foul line while the teams were competing. West initially believed James was using a “veteran trick” to distract him from his performance, but later realized the pitch was serious. West was eventually traded to Cleveland in February 2008 as part of a three-team deal.

Following the trade, West became a key rotation player for the Cavaliers, starting 26 games in his first season with the team. West also noted that James and his family provided support to him during his personal struggles with mental health and addiction.
