DeLorean Motor Company enters flying car racing series

DeLorean Motor Company has announced its entry into the Airspeeder International Series, an all-electric flying car racing championship. The company will compete as the DeLorean Airspeeder Team, marking its debut in the 2026-2027 season starting in November.

The racing vehicles are electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, specifically the Mk3C model, which will feature a distinctive DeLorean design. The competition utilizes electronically defined three-dimensional courses rather than traditional paved tracks.

DeLorean will be the first American constructor to participate in the series. To support its racing efforts, the company plans to collaborate with students from the University of California, Berkeley, and the Georgia Institute of Technology. The series aims to advance technologies such as AI-enabled aviation and advanced flight control systems.
