Delta Air Lines CEO aims for status among global premium carriers
Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian expressed his ambition for the company to be viewed alongside global premium carriers such as Singapore Airlines and Emirates. Speaking on the Airlines Confidential podcast, Bastian stated that while Delta is a leader in the U.S. travel industry, he wants the airline to be considered among the world's top premium brands.
However, industry analysts have raised concerns regarding the gap between these ambitions and the airline's current performance. Aviation consultant Henry Harteveldt noted that while Delta has built a strong business, its service and reliability have faced challenges. Reports indicate that Delta cancelled nearly 3% of its flights in July, a rate higher than competitors such as United, American, and Southwest.
