Delta Air Lines expands premium cabin capacity and pricing options

Delta Air Lines is implementing two major strategic shifts regarding its premium service offerings. First, the airline plans to significantly increase its premium capacity on future Airbus A330-900neo aircraft. According to Chief Commercial Officer Joe Esposito, a new batch of these planes will feature a 56-seat Delta One cabin, nearly doubling the 29-seat capacity found in current A330-900neo configurations. This move aims to meet high demand for premium products in markets such as London.

Second, Delta is expanding its tiered pricing structure by introducing ‘Basic’ fares for its premium cabins, including Delta First, Delta Premium Select, and Delta One in selected markets. While the in-flight experience remains consistent with higher-tier fares, these Basic options come with reduced flexibility and benefits. Passengers on Basic fares will face restrictions such as assigned seating only after check-in, lower mileage accumulation, reduced checked baggage allowances, and fees for changes or cancellations.
