Delta Air Lines flight attendants file overtime lawsuit in California

Delta Air Lines flight attendants have filed a proposed class action lawsuit in California state court, alleging the airline failed to compensate nonexempt employees for various work-related duties.

The lawsuit claims that unpaid time includes undergoing security checks, attending annual staff training, preparing aircraft for boarding, cleaning planes, and performing other required duties. Because California law requires overtime pay for work exceeding eight hours in a single day, employees could accumulate significant overtime even if they do not reach a 40-hour work week.

While Delta has previously won a California Supreme Court ruling in 2020 regarding its compensation structure, this new litigation specifically targets the failure to include certain preparatory and administrative tasks in overtime calculations.
