Delta Airbus A350 collides with Air Canada Boeing 777 at LAX

An Airbus A350 operated by Delta Air Lines collided with a Boeing 777 operated by Air Canada on a taxiway at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on October 6.

The Delta flight, DL7, was preparing for departure to Tokyo-Haneda when its left wingtip struck the horizontal stabilizer of the Air Canada aircraft. The Air Canada plane, which had arrived from Toronto, was being towed to its gate at the time of the incident. The collision caused damage to the wingtip of the Airbus, a portion of which became lodged in the tail of the Boeing.

No injuries were reported among the 275 passengers and 15 crew members on the Delta flight. Both aircraft were removed from service for technical inspections and repairs. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into the cause of the ground collision.
