Delta and United Airlines hit by major computer outage across the US
A major computer outage affecting Delta Air Lines and United Airlines has disrupted operations and caused flight delays across the United States. The technical issues began around 11:40 a.m. ET on Tuesday, according to outage-tracking website Downdetector.
The disruption has impacted airline websites, mobile applications, and airport gate systems. Delta passengers reported being unable to board flights at several locations, including Detroit, Atlanta, Tampa, Arkansas, and Georgia. Many Delta travelers experienced difficulties using the airline’s app for booking, checking in, and managing reservations.
United Airlines customers also reported significant issues, with nearly 60 percent of reports indicating an inability to log in to the airline’s customer portal or access online services. United issued a statement confirming they are working to resolve a ‘temporary technical issue affecting united.com and the United app’ which prevented users from signing into MileagePlus accounts.
