Delta Energy Group signs oil and gas deals in Afghanistan

Saudi Arabia-based Delta Energy Group has signed multiple agreements with Afghanistan’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum to explore oil and gas resources and develop energy infrastructure.

The contracts include an exploration and production-sharing agreement for the Kushk and Tirpul areas, covering approximately 23,317 square kilometers. Delta Energy will conduct geological studies, seismic surveys, and drilling to assess the commercial viability of hydrocarbon reserves in these blocks.

Additionally, the company will finance a study on natural gas utilization for Herat city and the Herat Industrial Park to support industry and electricity generation. A framework was also established to study the “CentGas — Corridor of Prosperity,” a proposed 700-kilometer pipeline connecting Herat province to Kandahar province. This pipeline is estimated to require $10 billion in investment over 10 years.

Delta Energy stated that the broader integrated program could involve tens of billions of dollars in potential investment over 25 years. However, all projects remain subject to successful exploration, technical feasibility, financing, and regulatory approvals.
