Delta Hospital to receive $24.4-million energy centre

Design and pre-construction work has begun for a new $24.4-million energy centre at Delta Hospital. Announced by Fraser Health, the project aims to bolster the facility’s power systems and increase electrical capacity to accommodate future hospital expansions and technological upgrades.

The new infrastructure is intended to support several upcoming projects, including the installation of an MRI and the Beedie Long-Term Care Centre. Additionally, the energy centre—which will house generators, transformers, and switchgears—is designed to disaster-proof the campus against power outages, floods, and earthquakes.

The project comes as Delta’s population is projected to grow by 31,000 people over the next 20 years. Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2027, with an expected completion date in spring 2028.
