Delta State approves major road reconstruction projects

The Delta State Executive Council, led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the reconstruction and rehabilitation of several key roads across the state. The approved projects include the first phase of the Warri Ring Road, spanning from First Marine Gates to Port Gate, and the rehabilitation of the stretch from Old Port Gate to the NPA Expressway.

Additional infrastructure works include asphalt overlay and rapid rehabilitation for Airport Road in Warri, Jakpa Road in Effurun, and Refinery Road in Effurun. The Commissioner for Works, Charles Aniagwu, noted that the Refinery Road project is particularly urgent due to its deteriorating condition.

The council also authorized extensions for ongoing flyover projects at Otovwodo Junction in Ughelli and towards College Junction in Agbor. In the Oshimili North Local Government Area, the reconstruction of the Ugbolu-Illah Road was approved, alongside the construction of several local streets including Dr. Sunday Okonji Drive and Opone Street.
